Lifting as We Climb Series

Lifting as we climb honors the historical models and the continued tradition of African American women organizing for change. The series will educate and make African American women organizing models relevant to the challenges and success of all women of color and communities of color organizing for justice.

The series will highlight challenges and successes of women of color organizing and building resources to sustain organizing.

How will we accomplish honoring?
Educate Women of Color on the history and traditions.
Make relevant to cultural contexts outside of African American experience.
Identify examples of African American women organizers/activists working for change and organizing models and strategies.

Goals:

  1. Establish a working and learning community of women engaged in social justice (organizing and philanthropy).
  2. Provide continue support and development of WOCFI alumnae.
  3. Empower participants to think creatively about their giving as social justice philanthropy.
  4. Provide an opportunity for education, growth and development for communities of color.
  5. Honor the historical model and continued tradition of women of color organizing for change.
